There was a long, exhaustive sigh on the other end of the line that made Asuma nearly laugh out loud.
”I understand that he’s a ‘loser’ as you say, but no matter what, you
can’t get out of the mission.”
Asuma paused to listen to Ebisu’s counter argument for why he should, in fact, not be forced into a mission with Gai.
”Yes—Yes—- I know that you’ve been his teammate for 20 years.—-
Yes I am aware of how you feel about that.”
Only Ebisu— King of the dramatic— would be this worked up about something like this. Of course, Asuma knew he was mostly overrating and putting on a show. He knew that the man truly cared for Gai just as much as anyone cared for their teammates.
”I guess you’ll just have to put up with it then, won’t ya?”
A pause.
”Ehh—Don’t be like that Ebisu——Ebisu?—-Ebisu?”
It had been a long time since he’d been hung upon.

Mostly I just wanted to do one because I’ve had this blog for months and ranged from quite active to only somewhat active— thanks to having a job and classes to attend to— and yet every time I return I’m overwhelmed with how much I feel at home here.
