○•—-○  The act of not following the rules; betrayal, disobedience, generally anything that would put you beyond his very strict moral regimen annoys him. Just the sight of it annoys him; the thought of it. Seeing rules broken is a huge pet peeve of his.

Send me ∇ for a headcanon about my character’s relationship with yours.

Naruto is a very influential shinobi in the eyes of Ebisu. Naruto is someone who Ebisu recognizes as someone with the capability to be a savior, and not only that but he is someone that Ebisu sees as being stronger than him. It’s not easy for Ebisu to admit that he’s wrong, or that he’s weaker than another, yet he accepts it easily with Naruto.

He has a somewhat strained relationship with the blond, mostly due to their exchanges when Naruto was much younger, Ebisu’s harsh judgement, which he recognizes in his current age, as being incorrect. Despite never telling the ramen loving boy that he would, Ebisu would gladly lay his life on the line for Naruto and he would stand up for Naruto if anyone would doubt him. Much like Konohamaru, Ebisu has no doubts that Naruto will become Hokage.

As a child Ebisu suffered from many insecurities. They manifested themselves as a high concern with others opinions of him which he still suffers from even to the day. He was highly sensitive towards others. He was not particularly popular.

He compared himself to his genin teammates, using it to drive himself forward in an almost negative manner. He was nearly obsessed with the idea of being not only accepted but being considered the equal of everyone and anyone he considered exceptional.

Send ϡ for a MENTAL STATE headcanon.

Ebisu is very single-minded. He makes decisions and stands by them, he is a judge first ask questions later— refine judgement after personal experience— he is very stable in the fact that he does in fact, recognize his tendency to judge quickly.

He finds it difficult to apologize when he realizes that his first judgement was mistaken. In fact, Ebisu finds it difficult to apologize in general.  Showing his emotions, expressing himself, he comes up short where these things are concerned.

Teammates ; Shiranui Genma and Might Gai

When they were younger, Ebisu was a rock, a constant in this particular team. Gai was youthful, driven and an eternal light– Genma was calm, focused and sometimes rather teasing. Ebisu however strict, sensible and .rather stubborn. He found himself constantly comparing himself to his teammates.

It provided a steady mental state of competitiveness from Ebisu, and his own form of drive to be better than them. He was always convinced that they didn’t acknowledge him as equals, and that they would look down on his conservative nature..

Of course, that conservative nature was mostly skin deep. Below the surface he was rather insecure and he craved affection and attention. Particularly, he wanted to feel like the equal of his teammates and over the years he began to feel less and less like he was.

Particularly when Might Gai became rather more powerful and named himself to rival of Hatake Kakashi. It was a direct blow to Ebisu, who wanted both of his teammates to consider him their ultimate rival, much like he considered them as his..

As they grew older, their somewhat severed bonds, erroded by time, by distance and by a lack of communication, caused Ebisu to somewhat resent his teammates.

Though these facts may seem negative, Ebisu holds a high regard towards his teammates. Enough to consider them his rivals still to the current day. He complained about and brushed off their teasing, joking, and light hearted manners, but truly it was a staple of his youth. Listening to his teammates ramble or joke, proclaim their goals and dreams, are memories that Ebisu cannot let go of.

Ebisu considers Genma his ultimate rival. He becomes interested when he hears news about the man, and very often, drops down where he knows Genma will be to “casually” bump into him. He rather enjoys catching up with his old teammate, even though he would never be so crass as to show it.

He finds Might Gai’s “youthful” personality endearing, though of course if that personality comes around him he complains about it.

He often dreams about small talk with them. About telling them of Konohamaru’s exploits, or how his students like to pull pranks, what he’s teaching them and how they are doing during practices. He, however, never does such a thing..

When he is drunk, he often call his old teammates on whims and if he is in danger, he thinks of seeking their help. He hopes they would also seek his, if they truly needed it..

                        Most Honorable Grandson Konohamaru-kun

Ebisu has unconditional faith in Konohamaru.

Though he is not keen on voicing his thoughts on the matter, he has always respected and harbored affection for the boy. When they first began their training, he was appalled, horrified, at the lack of dignity, the lack of respect and potential shown in the most honorable grandson.

Taking it upon himself to teach the boy these things, he began a process of slowly chipping away at the less refined parts of Konohamaru – no thanks to Uzumaki Naruto who was always counter productively teaching the boy even more perverted, undignified, nonscripted things on the side– believing himself to be doing the village a great service.

He is highly proud of himself as a teacher and he is always highly offended when Konohamaru brushes his teachings off.

He began to trust Konohamaru as the years passed by and he grew to place weight in the boy, believing that he would pull through and deliver.

When Konohamaru’s dream was voiced, that he wanted to becoming Hokage much like Uzumaki Naruto’s own dream, Ebisu eventually took it upon himself to share the same dream. His dream became to see Konohamaru become the Hokage much like his grandfather before him.

Ebisu considers himself the guardian of Konohamaru.

He would go to great lengths to protect his star pupil, including sacrificing his own life so that the boy may survive.

He teases the boy, as does the boy tease him, however he wouldn’t trade his student for anyone, and truly admires him. He defends Konohamaru’s reputation when others make comments and no matter how many times Iruka questions him about it, he will never sell the boy out concerning his hiding places, or concerning his pranks.

Ebisu is often the victim of those pranks himself and while he seems to think they are unbelievable, diabolical even– and he will probably immediately give the boy a stern talking to as well as a round of intense training as punishment– he is actually surprisingly casual about letting the hard feelings roll right off of his back. He has learned not to take the pranks personally. He has began to accept it as a mark of intelligence and youth in the boy that he doesn’t want to see removed.

Though they give each other a hard time, and he does indeed tend to grind against Ebisu’s oh-so-delicate sensibilities, he craddles a large amount of affection for Konohamaru deep within, burried beneath the frown and the shades.
