Teammates ; Shiranui Genma and Might Gai

When they were younger, Ebisu was a rock, a constant in this particular team. Gai was youthful, driven and an eternal light– Genma was calm, focused and sometimes rather teasing. Ebisu however strict, sensible and .rather stubborn. He found himself constantly comparing himself to his teammates. 

It provided a steady mental state of competitiveness from Ebisu, and his own form of drive to be better than them. He was always convinced that they didn’t acknowledge him as equals, and that they would look down on his conservative nature.. 

Of course, that conservative nature was mostly skin deep. Below the surface he was rather insecure and he craved affection and attention. Particularly, he wanted to feel like the equal of his teammates and over the years he began to feel less and less like he was.

Particularly when Might Gai became rather more powerful and named himself to rival of Hatake Kakashi. It was a direct blow to Ebisu, who wanted both of his teammates to consider him their ultimate rival, much like he considered them as his.. 

As they grew older, their somewhat severed bonds, erroded by time, by distance and by a lack of communication, caused Ebisu to somewhat resent his teammates.

Though these facts may seem negative, Ebisu holds a high regard towards his teammates. Enough to consider them his rivals still to the current day. He complained about and brushed off their teasing, joking, and light hearted manners, but truly it was a staple of his youth. Listening to his teammates ramble or joke, proclaim their goals and dreams, are memories that Ebisu cannot let go of.

Ebisu considers Genma his ultimate rival. He becomes interested when he hears news about the man, and very often, drops down where he knows Genma will be to “casually” bump into him. He rather enjoys catching up with his old teammate, even though he would never be so crass as to show it.

He finds Might Gai’s “youthful” personality endearing, though of course if that personality comes around him he complains about it.

He often dreams about small talk with them. About telling them of Konohamaru’s exploits, or how his students like to pull pranks, what he’s teaching them and how they are doing during practices. He, however, never does such a thing..

When he is drunk, he often call his old teammates on whims and if he is in danger, he thinks of seeking their help. He hopes they would also seek his, if they truly needed it..
